Tombstone Tuesday - Philander and Harriet Parker

Tombstone of Philander and Harriet Parker

This is the tombstone of Philander Calender Parker and his wife Harriet N. (Palmer) Parker located at Wautoma Union Cemetery, Wautoma, Washara County, Wisconsin. They are my 3rd great grandparents and the parents of my 2nd great grandfather, Valois D. Parker.

Here is a brief summary of my notes on Philander C. Parker. Philander was born July 30, 1817 in Nunda, Livingston County, New York to Abraham and Harriet Parker. He was married to Harriet Newel Palmer March 22, 1838, probably in New York State. They moved to Waushara County, Wisconsin around 1860. Harriet died July 4, 1875 and Philander died June 22, 1881. They had at least 4 children between 1842 and 1857. Charlotte, Philander H., Melissa and Valois.

Charlotte married civil war Capt. J.N.P. Bird. They are buried within a few yards of Philander and Harriet Parker. Philander H. Parker married Arminta Bishop and moved to Nebraska where he died around 1913. He is buried in Pleasant View Cemetery, Pierce County, Nebraska. Melissa died in 1935 and was never married according to her obituary. She is buried in the within a few yards of her parents. Valois married Anna Belle Wood and remained in Waushara County, Wisconsin. They had 8 children, 5 surviving to adulthood. They are buried about 7 rows to the east of Philander and Harriet.
